Royal Ass Whupping: Split the Series with KC

The ongoing saga of Cleveland and our shitty bats.

Kansas City has renovated their ballpark, so the dimensions are a bit smaller. It’s still a Hitter’s Park, though, with those deep corners.

It’s nice to see Petey Halpin up, he’s amazing in the field. His bat needs to wake up.

Speaking of bats… what the flying fuck is up with the pop ups? Everyone keeps trying to golf ball those balls up and out.

Our middle game pitchers also are having trouble. Not a good combo.

We seem to be thrown out less often going from third to home, but then again, we haven’t had as many people on third…

  • It started out pretty good but man we collapsed.
  • Bibee does not handle problems very well, he unraveled after a home run (and an error)
  • We got hits, but couldn’t bring anyone home
  • Our pitchers failed totally at stopping the running game.

  • The highlight I guess was Hoskins and a 3 run home run.
  • Walks caught up with Big Rig Williams again. He handles those situations well, though. Very composed.

  • Cantillo did pretty well. He needs to handle the stealing game better, but he did well with a bases loaded situation.
  • Very nice double steal.
  • Jose manufactured a run with a walk, a steal, and his usual hustle.
  • Winning with a challenged pitch is really funny.
  • Angel Martinez did a good job at leadoff. I adore Kwan, but he’s not been hitting well.

  • Cecconi had some trouble, but worked out of it. His fastball velocity is down almost 3 ticks vs. last season (93.9 -> 91 mph, MLB avg: 94.2 mph).
  • Can’t say the same of Brogdon.
  • Bo Naylor got a solid home run.
