The Anaheim Angels used to be the team nearest my house. I’d try to go to a game a season, and one year I brought a bunch of my friends to a game.
I had to go for the “Angels in the Outfield” joke. Mind you, I feel bad for the Angels. They haven’t had a winning season since 2015. So maybe they do need some angels …
On a sad note, Bob Tayek passed away today. Bob was the in-stadium announcer for most of my life, and when you’re at a game, you’ve heard him rolling that R a million times to say “José Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrramirez!”
It is with great sadness we share the news that our longtime public address announcer, Bob Tayek, has passed away today. For nearly three decades, Bob was the voice of Progressive Field, welcoming generations of fans to Cleveland baseball with warmth, professionalism and a presence that became part of the ballpark experience.
Please keep Bob’s family, friends and all who worked alongside him in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Bob, your voice will never be replaced.

Just before the first game, I told a friend of mine that if we didn’t figure out how to hit soon, we were fucked. All the great catching in the world won’t help.

Vogt is still out with a respiratory illness. My wife has trouble telling him and Asst. Manager Arnerich apart. We call them “Vogt Early and Vogt Often”.
