One of my best friends is a Philly girl all the way. Has a home, a wife, a kid, and recently sold her company to go back to school and learn to be a Sign Language Interpreter. Because she’s too cool. Philly is one of my fave places to visit in the US, not just because she’s awesome. It has a wonderful mix of European styles and classic American Gumption.
You can also take a wrong turn and end up in New Jersey. Just ask my Uber driver.
Two of the funniest things, to me, are the Mummers Parade (which my friends hates because it’s noisy and filled with guys who pee in alleys) and the fact that if the Eagles win big, they grease the lampposts to try and stop people from climbing them.
Try is the operative word. It doesn’t work.

While the rain fell up and down the Eastern Seaboard, and most teams canceled games, The Phillies and the Guards played on. Usually rain means trouble for pitchers, because it’s hard to grip the ball. This time we got three astounding pitchers duels and low scores.
I mean, come on, each team only scored 4 runs over 3 games. That’s actually insane. Or as Hammy said, “Golly.”

- It rained the entire game until the 9th, and then Manzo hit a solo shot off the bench!
- Technically Jose had an error, but that was a judgement call by the scorer.
- Jose tried to stretch a single to a double and if he’d stayed in base, Manzo would had had a two run dinger.
- Of course … if Jose had been on base, would Manzo have even gotten the pitch?
- Speaking of … that pitch looked like he barely got any of it!
- The last time Cleveland had a pinch hitter hit a home run in the 9th was Jason Giambi in 2013.
Game 2 (54) – LOST
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | R | H | E | |

- The game started two hours late. Never a good sign.
- Cecconi pitched well until he nearly had his head taken off by a line drive.
- Bazzana went 1 for 4 as leadoff.
- The Phillies ran a lot today, stealing like maniacs. Bailey did pretty okay, all things considered.
Game 3 (55) – WON
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | R | H | E | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CLE | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 9 | 0 |

- Finally it was clear skies!
- Hammy finally got a Bazzana home run to call!
- Kwan got an RBI and hit well.
- Messick just keeps lowering his ERA every game.
Time to go back home and face the surprising Nationals.
