While I will always laugh about Skubal fucked up snap throw (and please note this is not the only time he’s screwed up that play), I’m thankful he’s not playing right now, given how we’re hitting.
Yes, I know on May 16th we had 6 home runs. I also know that’s the most we’ve had in a game since 2019.

A sweep! A sweep! A four game sweep!
Coming in hot after a rout of the Reds, the Guards kept the momentum going. The new lineup is working out. Jose is suddenly way more productive! So is Kwan. It’s weird to not see him at the top of the lineup, but I think it’s good for him to have a break.
Down in the minors, 20 year old Ralphy Velasquez was promoted from Akron to Columbus, meaning he’s now in AAA ball, and just a step from the majors. He was a standout in spring training, but his age and the fact that we have good first basemen right now mean he’ll get some decent seasoning time.
Humor for the week. My wife calls Vogt and Arnerich “Vogt Early and Vogt Often.”

- Cecconi was tremendous.
- Well timed bunts and sacs served the Guards well.

- Bazzana got a two run homer.
- Hedgey had a rare error. 🤯
- Kwan’s catch (see video below) is why he keeps getting gold gloves.
- Relatively solid game, though low scoring.

- Extra innings in the motor city thanks to a well placed infield sac.
- Bibee just cannot catch a fucking break with a win, can he? Eight amazing innings and we can’t get him a single run?!

- I did not think Cantillo would make it 4 innings after that first, but lo, the Pineapple did it!
- Bailey got his first home run as a Guard. And he was 4/5 on ABS challenges!
- Rocchio is continuing his hot streak.
- Angel’s tumble into the left field wall was terrifying, but I’m glad he’s okay.
- I feel like Kwan and José are doing better in their new lineup spots, but I’ll look at the numbers for the next off day.
