Not these guys again … A Semi Expected Loss

·

Baseball runner in gray slides into a white base as an umpire and a blue-uniform defender observe on a dirt infield.

One day I’ll stop hating the Astros for stealing a World Series. That’s not 2026. Sabrowski is back, so that’s some hope for the ‘pen. Down in the minors, Khal Stephan has to have surgery, which sucks since he was looking like a possible starter.

Hammy was absent this series, which is always a bummer, but Pat Tabler is one of the better colour men in the game, and I enjoy his explanations and stats. Rosey … I like Rosey, but he’s just not as great as Hammy. Then again, no one has been as great as Bob Uecker or Herb Score, so it’s just that I have a high bar.

  • Bibee’s curse returns. He takes the L with 5.1 innings and a dinger.
  • The ‘pen really shat the bed today. I know it’s hard to come in with men on, but that’s the job of middle relief.
  • It’s not really all on the pen if you consider how ass Cleveland is at getting men home from 3rd,
  • Watson is amazing the the outfield.
  • Hoskins hit a dinger but that and Rocchio’s RBI double were it for runs.
  • Down in the minors, Cooper Ingle (a catcher turned outfielder) was off the Clippers’ lineup. Hmmm.

  • If anyone knows why the home plate ump gave both pitchers a Pitch Clock violation for PitchCom issues, please let me know. Otherwise I’m gonna think Carapazza is a jerk.
  • Watson is still looking for his first hit, but his fielding makes up for it.
  • Cantillo was brilliant with a line of 8 innings, 4 hits, 1 run (earned), 1 walk, and 9 strikeouts! 71 of his 98 pitches were strikes!
  • Bazanna with a four hit game, two home runs!

  • Legit, this was a really good game. Pitching and Defense were on the ball.
  • The bats though … we have got to get something going to score runs. We draw walks, we get runners to third and then … nada.
  • This loss drops us to second place and guess who we play next?

We’re off to Chicago to play the AL central first place White Sox. This is what I’d call a series we have to win.

Anyone have hope that Chase DeLauter gets off the IL?
