Home against the Rangers – Guards Escape a Sweep

·

Collage of Cleveland Guardians players: left in shadow with arm raised, center batter running in white uniform, right teammates high-fiving on the field.

Given where we are with the standings, we pretty much have to win and win and win.

But can we?

José got his stitches out and is looking to come back ‘soon.’ Broken Rib DeLauter managed to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. We can hit, but as Vogter pointed out, getting that mindset to know that a clutch hit means the pitcher is in trouble, not you, is hard!

We have six rookies on the team, and it’s just a learning process. They’re gonna make mistakes, but we didn’t lose game 2 because Ingle fucked up and forgot it was only the second out. We lost because we didn’t get hits after the first inning.

The game we won, you can see we got hits and kept hitting. That’s the key. We gotta hit!

  • Again, pitching wasn’t too bad. Sabrowski got hit hard.
  • Clutch hitting failed us again.
  • Arias had a nice home run, but his fielding at third is pretty mid.
  • José came for warmups today. God, I miss him.

  • Poor Cooper Ingle. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that happen.
  • Bazanna was brilliant in the field.
  • Armstrong’s long ball was a rough one.
  • José got his stitches out and is doing well.

  • Nice to see a big inning.
  • The weather was hella hot and muggy, and the ball flies further in this weather (or as Hammy says, the Jake plays small).
  • While Arias has the ability to hit well, he feels so … lazy.
  • Hedges got his second home run of the season.
  • DeLauter extended his hitting streak.
  • Kwan’s triple was so close to a Little League Home Run.

Quick 45min flight from Chicago for the White Sox to come over for a four game series tomorrow.

How do I know it’s 45min? I lived in Chicago and used to fly to Cleveland to see my grandmother, Taffy, regularly. And yes, that was back when the Sox sucked, and I could get a ticket for $10 on the day of at Comisky.
